"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2nd Timothy 4:7
Kenneth Cook, Sr. fondly known as “Kenny” departed this earthly home on October 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He was born to Ms. Catherine Cook on September 28, 1961, in Amite, Louisiana. His early education included graduation from Amite High School in Amite, Louisiana. He then furthered his education and graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
After college he met and married his loving and devoted wife Debra Sutton Cook, in this union they reared 5 boys. Kenneth built a career working as an Electrical Engineer for Aerojet Rocketdyne at Stennis Space Center for 35 years and later for SYNCOM Space Services (S3) until his health failed.
Kenneth and his family spent much of his life in Long Beach, MS. Though he was baptized and accepted Christ into his life at an early age at Big Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Amite, Louisiana, his home Church was Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Phillip McSwain, Sr. Kenny was a faithful member and an active member in the Marriage Class Ministry and the Pastor Care Ministry. He enjoyed many Church gatherings and trips over the years. Namely, he and Debra enjoyed sharing in speaking at Church Anniversaries and Friends and Family Day.
Kenneth enjoyed fishing and traveling. More than anything he enjoyed time with his Family.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Debra, his sons; Jabrelle Cook (Amanda), Ken Cook, Darren Cook and Kobe Cook all of Long Beach, MS and Chad Cook (Sylvia), San Antonio, Texas. His grandchildren, Ava, Kaydence, Presley, Gabby, Tatum, Myla of Long Beach MS; Eli, Isaiah and Alina of San Antonio, TX. Sisters in law; Seleda Bolton, Carolyn Griffin (Milton), Jacquelyn Lockhart (Wayne); Brothers in law; Eddie Sutton, Francis Sutton, Joseph Mason Sr., and Charles E. Lawrence, Jr. Special Aunts; Vivian Cook, Baton Rouge, LA, Louise Martin (Malcolm) of Oak Park, IL; Patricia Leroy, San Jose, CA; Uncle; Bridges Cook, Oak Park, IL; and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his Grandmother Ellen Cook, Mother, Catherine Cook Cohn, Stepfather, Joseph Cohn, Sister, Valerie Mason, Sister-in-law Shirley Lawrence, Brother-in-law, Roy Sutton, and other aunts, uncles and relatives.
Kenneth’s greatest legacy is not what he left behind, but the values he instilled, the love he gave, and the lasting imprint he made on the lives of his sons.
