Zachary M.
Keyes
Nov 27, 1955 — Jul 15, 2020
Gulfport
Zachary Marvin. Keyes was born November 27, 1955. "Zeek-The-Freak", as he was affectionately known by his family, was a jack of all trades. He graduated from Harrison Central High School and later entered the work force, gaining employment with the Aluminum Plant for several years, until the company began their layoffs. After his employment with the Aluminum Plant ended, Zeek became self employed. If there was anything that neighbors or friends needed repaired, he was the man for the job.
In addition to making repairs, Zeek would also mow lawns and did so until he lost his right leg. Through all of life's mishaps, Zeek continued to work on small appliances. He was determine that he wouldn't let any disability stop him. Over time Zeek became known as the family's, "MacGyver" because he could take anything apart and put it to work. It did not matter whether it was a refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave, or a lawn mower, you name it, he could make it work.
Coupled with his "MacGyver" like skills, Zeek had a knack for repairing cars. He could repair breaks, change oil, repair car motors...Zeek could also fix anything pertaining to a car. These were the things that Zeek enjoyed, until he lost the use of his arm in a freak accident. When he wasn't working, Zeek enjoyed gardening. His garden and plants were his passion. He enjoyed growing tomatoes, peppers, and bell peppers. He loved taking care of plants. He was most proud of his aloe vera plant. It blossomed and was the fullest plant in his yard and it was his pride and joy. Zeek could look at a plant, touch it, and make it grow. He had what you would call a, "green thumb.
Everyone who knew him, loved him, "Zeek The Freak"! Family and friends are truly saddened by Zeek's sudden departure. His life was full of fun and laughter with family and friends. Zeek enjoyed his family and loved them all very much, especially his son, nephews. "Uncle Zack's" apartment was a safe haven for the boys, even the girls (nieces) ran to uncle Zach's when they needed to get away.
The entire family will forever hold the special memories in their hearts of uncle Zeek. Uncle Zeek The Freak- Marvelous Keyes was his name, oh yeah, Zachariah, and don't you, bleep, bleep, bleep forget it!
