Willie Murrill,
Jr.
Jul 25, 1955 — Jun 3, 2021
Gulfport
Willie Murrill, Jr., 65, of Gulfport, Mississippi born July 25, 1955, to Mr. Willie Murrill, Sr. and Mrs. Theora Emel Murrill in New Orleans, Louisiana. Willie departed this earthly life Thursday, June 3, 2021.
Our Beloved Willie Murrill, Jr. never met a stranger during his journey of life, nor did he miss his calling to be a mentor as it was reflected in his life works. Whether he was mentoring in the United States Navy during multiple tours of duty overseas, before honorably retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO2), serving as a Sergeant at the Harrison County Work Center, working as a Stocker in Walmart, supervising as an Assistant Manager of Dollar General, or working as a Produce Associate for Winn-Dixie, you could always count on him to share words of wisdom.
Willie was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. After high school, he attended Tougaloo College and later enlisted in the United States Navy. Willie made a career and retired from the Navy as a CWO2 Chief Warrant Officer 2. He was indeed a man of culture, patriotism, and honor and he lived his life in a manner that other young men could pattern themselves after. Willie was never too busy to give back to his community and did so as a Freemason of the Rectitude Lodge #323.
He was such a lively person who never met a stranger. Willie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; they were his joy. Strong, resilient, steadfast, and faithful until the end, these are only a few characteristics that describe our beloved Willie. Our family has chosen to be comforted by the fact that he has lived this life, to live again eternally.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2Timothy 4:7-8
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Murrill, Sr. and Theora Emel Murrill; a daughter, Quidronna Haynes; a brother, Darrell Murrill; and a sister, Arleatha Shorter.
He is survived by his loving and caring spouse, Jessie Haynes Murrill; a son, Darron Murrill; two bonus sons, Reginald Winters and Robert Haynes; a daughter, Sharon Murrill; three brothers, Terrence Murrill, Arvin Murrill, Melvin Murrill; two sisters, Jacqueline Burson, Crystal Murrill; two brothers-in-law, Carl (Patricia) Haynes, Vinson (Sonia) Haynes; an aunt, Vera Pittman; three grandchildren, Amari, Jayvyan, Trenton; two special friends, Myron (Maureen) Mattox, Paulette Pourciau; and a host of other relatives and friends. May continue to bless each of you richly.
