Wenoka T. Griggs, 68, of Gulfport, Mississippi was born March 14, 1953, to Milton Griggs and Barbara Davis Griggs in Gulfport, Mississippi. Wenoka departed this life Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

Wenoka was a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a great deal of her life. She attended and graduated from the David L. Mackenzie High School High School in Detroit, Michigan. Shortly after graduating from high school, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with her grandmother. Wenoka worked as a Waiter for several years. She was reared in the Baptist faith and attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church until her health began to decline.

Wenoka was simply a pleasant lady to be around. She enjoyed reading and watching movies. Learning about different people and cultures fascinated her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and if a meal could be shared during that time, it was always icing on the cake. Family meant everything to her and we are going to miss her presence in our lives. We are confident that Wenoka has found rest in the arms of Christ and that alone, brings us great joy.

Wenoka is preceded in death by her parents, Milton Griggs and Barbara Davis Griggs.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two brothers, James Thompson and Jerome Thompson- both of Detroit, Michigan; two special aunts, Sherwinn Berry- Biloxi, Mississippi and Airwanna McKinney- Nashville, Tennessee; and is and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
