Thomas Kelly, Jr., born on September 12, 1943, left this world on September 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
Thomas known to friends and acquaintances as Tommy and to some a "Kelly T The Music Man" was a man of unique character. He was born to Thomas Kelly, Sr. and Ella Pitts Kelly in Ocean Springs, MS. After graduating from 33rd Avenue High School in 1963, Tommy moved to Somerset, New Jersey where he spent more than 20 years before moving back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
After moving back home, Tommy pursued a career in the Culinary Arts at the Grand Casino in Biloxi. His dedication, work ethic, and innovative spirit made him a respected figure in his field. Throughout his career, he received several awards and earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and peers.
Beyond his professional life, Tommy's true passions were photography and his music. He was constantly writing and recording original music and could be seen performing at local clubs across the coast.
Tommy cherished moments spent in the company of family and friends. His smile was infectious, and his presence was known when he entered the room.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tammie Grays, his only sister, Helen Johnson and a nephew, Raymond Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Dwayne Thomas Kelly, sr., Allentown, PA; a daughter, Aisha Wilson, New Brunswick, NJ; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson, one niece, Hazel Louise McCreary, Gulfport, MS; two nephews, Johnny (Catherine) Johnson, Blomfield, Ct, Samuel Leroy (Pamela) Johnson, Gulfport, MS and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and a special longtime friend, Sharon Darby-Coleman, Piscataway, NJ.
Thomas Kelly, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones and the Mississippi City and Handsboro community.
Rest on "Kelly T."
