Shirley Diane
Cameron
Dec 26, 1956 — Mar 19, 2021
Gulfport
Shirley Diane Cameron was born on December 26 th , 1956 to the late Mr. Ray Bureau & late Mrs. Eloise Morrow in Meridian, Mississippi. Shirley leaves to cherish her memories, her stepfather, Mr. Eddie Johnson of D'Iberville, Mississippi. Shirley, as she was called by her husband, Cameron and her friends, but to her side of the family, she was Diane! Shirley was the diva of all divas! When you approached Shirley, there were two special things you were going to immediately notice about her! Her big smile and the woman smelled good! Shirley was the fragrance queen! The latest and best perfumes Shirley had to have no matter the cost! From her Coach bags to the Michael Kors, let me not forget the Louis Vuittons, Shirley had them all. Her husband Cameron made sure she had a new bag once or twice a year and if that was not enough, Shirley got it herself! Shirley had quite the career path during her time with us. From a waitress at Morrison's Cafeteria, cashier at Church's Chicken, school bus driver, receptionist, and the one we all remember the most, State Farm Insurance and her side gig was selling her oils. When Shirley was not working, she cooked, she raised her kids, and she cleaned and cleaned like you have never seen before. The Cameron household was very immaculate and if you spent time in Shirley's kitchen, you might find her constantly wiping the counters. She cleaned like no other, from the baseboards, ceiling fans, legs on the dining room table, vacuum tracks in the carpet, furniture polished, you name it, the house was on point! Shirley lived her life like no other. She loved to travel, she loved to fly, and she was introduced to cruising in 2014 and loved it! Shirley was a big fan of seafood, a big love for soul food cooking, but please do not cook or give her anything with mayonnaise in it! Shirley was also a member of the Elite Social Club.
Shirley met her husband, Chief Marvis James Cameron in 1982 while she was working at Gulf Coast Dental Center. Marvis and Shirley were married at their home on August 7 th , 1982 from a close friend of the family and military buddy, Pastor Calvin Bolton (Sara) of Decatur, GA. Cameron had a daughter, Dr. Stacy N. Cameron, from a previous marriage who Shirley helped raise as if she were own daughter. Shirley as well, had a daughter, Nikki Carter from a previous marriage as well. So the two newlyweds joined together by marriage with two daughters welcomed their son & brother, Marvis De'Nikos Cameron (Scooter) the following year.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories, and many conversations, with her husband, Marvis James Cameron of Gulfport, her daughter Nikki and son in law Roger Carter of Gulfport, MS, her son Marvis De'Nikos Cameron (Scooter) of Atlanta, GA. Shirley was proceeded in death, by her daughter, Dr. Stacy Cameron of Mobile, AL. Shirley has three grandchildren, Jasmine Gayten, Christian Rankin, and Gregory Rankin. Shirley also has six great grandchildren, Harlee Rose, Yori, Skylynn, Jaiden, Justin, & Isiah. Shirley was proceeded in death by her first-born great grandchild Kaleb.
Shirley had a big family and a big family full of love and laughter! Shirley leaves behind her siblings: Curtis Morrow of Biloxi, MS, Spencer Morrow (Linda) of Phildelphia, MS, Judy Morrow of Forest, MS, Barbara Lucas (Greg) of Morton, MS, Neshell Scott (Rodney) of Lena, MS, Andrea Kelly (Dr. Jesse) of Jackson, MS, Pastor Eddie Lee Johnson of Biloxi, MS, Eddie Carnell Johnson of Biloxi, MS, Pastor, Charles Johnson (Alicia) of D'Iberville, MS, Michael Johnson of D'Iberville, MS, Saquanda Johnson of D'Ibverville, MS, Ray Anthony Bureau of Gonzales, LA, Mary Ann Bureau of Prairieville, LA, and Lori Bureau of Gonzales, LA. Shirley was proceeded in her death, by her brother Nathaniel Morrow of Gulfport, MS and Joe Nathan Morrow of Gulfport, MS.
Shirley leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, cousins who were all part of her life and Shirley cherished them dearly. Shirley's Aunt, Joyce Graham was a big part of her life as well and when Shirley called her Aunt Joyce was there! Shirley's, niece, Dr. Sandra Brown Peeple's was big a part of her life as well as they prayed with one another daily, read scriptures, and shared the same pay date as they often joked about. Shirley's two cousins Bobby Ray Billups of Gulfport and Jerry Billups of Gulfport were her go to cousins who were always there when she needed them. Her sister Barbara (Bookie) as the family calls her was Shirley's rock! Bookie spent many days and hours with her sister, and they loved each other unconditionally. Sisters they are, but they are definitely total opposites!
