Shelton Maurice
Miller
Aug 1, 1984 — Jan 18, 2020
Gulfport
...Truly I tell you, whatever you have done for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
Matthew 25:40
Shelton Maurice "Go Getter" Miller, 35 of Gulfport, Mississippi departed this life Saturday, January 18, 2020. Shelton was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was a 2003 graduate of Gulfport High School. Upon completion of high school, Shelton enrolled in Remington College, graduating, July 19, 2007, as a Medical Assistant. Having a desire to further his education, he went on to attend Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus, where he graduated and became a certified welder.
Shelton was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, Gulfport. Faith, family and community meant everything to him. Shelton understood that community was not simply a space where a group of people lived, yet a collective of individuals working together, leaning on and supporting each other for the advancement of the whole. Shelton worked tirelessly to build a better life for those who are to come after him. As owner and operator of LimelyteDzignz, LLC. and Co-Owner of Miller and Miller Catering Service, Shelton lived and worked every day to be an example of a community leader.
Serving others was a passion of Shelton's. During his spare time, he enjoyed participating in community service events that provide wigs for cancer patients, feeding those in need, and back to school give-a-ways. Shelton was the epitome of altruism, always giving of himself without having expectations of receiving anything in return. He was an encourager and a motivator and would give you the very shirt off his back if he needed to. Shelton modeled the very idea of servanthood, given to us by Jesus Christ.
When he was not working or serving, Shelton enjoyed socializing and riding his motorcycle with his bikers club, The Down South Burners. He found great joy being a member of this club, as they exemplified many of the core values that he possessed, brotherhood, dignity, service, and most of all, love for community. Shelton was a pure and honest man, who loved people and had a big heart. He touched the lives of many people and proved the old adage to be true, "not all heroes wear capes"... sometimes they wear helmets and ride motorcycles. Shelton will be missed dearly by all who knew him and by those who lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Miller, Sr.; godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Watts.
