Pass Christian
Shawn Gerard Twyner, 57, a dual resident of Spotsylvania, VA and Pass Christian, MS, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Gulfport, Mississippi. Shawn referred to himself as a Professional Traveler. Exploring, entertaining, and enjoying family and friends was his passion. A relative to everyone, he would affectionately greet you with "Cuz". Shawn's passion for history and ancestry would prove to be exceptional when having a conversation with him. He had a picture with everyone and would display such on social media. His legendary commentary will be remembered for a lifetime. His late-night phone calls, text messages, messenger notes and intriguing information will be missed. To know him was to LOVE him.
Shawn attended THEE Jackson State University where he was a Tumbler for the JSU Tigers. Shawn LOVED Jackson State University and made many memories while listening to THEE Sonic BOOM of the South! He would attend homecoming games as often as possible, linking up with family and friends. He would also make a special effort to attend Mardi Gras in Pass Christian every year. It was a good time and plenty of photo opportunities. Shawn loved Mardi Gras and the people of "The Pass".
Shawn was of Catholic faith and was devoted to saying the Rosary and praying intentionally. His Faith in God was exceptional. In his last days he admitted that he lived a good life and he knew that he would be going home to be with his family, he was at peace.
Shawn was preceded in death by his loving parents, George H. Twyner, Sr. and Lynn G. Twyner, a brother Kim, a loving Aunt Maud Oliver Rucker, an Uncle Billy Ray Foxworth and his grandparents Oliver Rucker and Maud McKay.
Shawn leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, George (Marilyn) of Cartersville, GA, Lynn of Spotsylvania, VA, Bruce (Schericka) of Ruther Glen, VA and his Aunt Margie O. Foxworth. Shawn also leaves a beautiful God Daughter, Elizabeth Renee Cook (Haidyn)~everyone that knew Shawn, heard how much he loved his Lizzy. Shawn had many relatives and friends that will miss him, I am sure he is dancing in Heaven.
