Obituary

Rubye Vaughn Owens, 79, was born March 6, 1942 in Jackson, MS. She attended Jackson Public Schools before graduating from Lanier High School. Rubye obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Rubye enjoyed a career in the medical field before retiring as a Certified Psychiatric Registered Nurse from Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, MS. There, she met and married the love of her life, the late John B. Owens. Their union blended with love as one family. She loved God, her late husband, John B. Owens and family and friends.
She had a special talent of growing flowers with DIY landscaping.  Her beautiful flower gardens, truly an extension of herself, amazed so many people. She touched so many lives in a positive way; with kindness and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Richard Tennessee and Cornelia Ann Vaughan; her loving husband, John B. Owens; one brother, David Yancey; and one sister, Jo Marilyn Clencey. She leaves to cherish her memory five sons Roderick "Kip" Martin, Eric Martin, Anthony Owens, Kenneth Butler Owens and Jon Owens; two daughters Monica Jackson and Michelle Channel; a surrogate daughter Linda Savage; one brother, Robert Earl Tennessee; one sister Minnie Mae Tennessee; a host of grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many relatives and friends.
