Obituary

Robert Alexander, 69, was born December 29, 1951, to Dominic Alexander and Elizabeth McKay Saucier, in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Robert was reared in the Catholic faith, believed in one holy catholic and apostolic church, and he confessed one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Mr. Alexander departed this life, Sunday, August 22, 2021.

Having deep Southern roots, in every sense, Robert embodied all things Southern. He began his career early on as a Commercial Fisherman. Robert's knowledge, skills, and abilities of both the oyster and shrimping industry were profound. We are often told to obtain a career that does not feel like work, Robert did just that. The fishing industry served as both his livelihood and leisure enjoyment. It has been said that, "A Fisherman knows that the sea is dangerous, but he has never found a reason to stay ashore." This was the life of Robert Alexander.

Beyond his work as a Fisherman, Robert was very soft spoken. Many friends and family members describe him as a laid-back kind of guy. He enjoyed riding his bike and hanging out with friends. His most favorable highlight of the year was attending the "Pass Parade". In truest Southern culture, Robert was always ready to, "laissez le bon temps rouler (let the good times roll). Every Southern person knows that this cannot happen without good cooking and socializing, and Robert was ALWAYS ready.

He is preceded in death by both parents; nine brothers, Raymond Alexander, George Alexander, Russell Alexander, Harold Alexander, Dominic Alexander, Jr, Anthony Alexander, Lionel Saucier, Leonard Alexander, William Alexander; four sisters, Valerie Alexander, Julia Mae Alexander, Rose Alexander Grace, Lorenza Saucier Robinson

Robert is survived by his loving children; a son, Paul Alexander (Karla); three daughters, Lydonyial (Keith) Welch, Trecia (Shawn) Powell, Janet (Kedrick Dixon) Alexander; a brother, Albert Alexander (Yvette); two sisters, Yevonne (Garfield) Means, Elsie Hannibal; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two special godchildren, Tomeka and Ruthie; nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
