Obituary

Richard L. Adams

October 17, 1956 - July 15, 2025

Richard L. Adams was born on October 17, 1956, in Tucson, Arizona, , to the late Helen Veronica Jackson and Robert Louis Adams. He departed this life on July 15, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Richard was a man who lived life on his own terms. Bold, outspoken, and never afraid to say exactly what was on his mind, he brought energy into every room he entered. He worked for several years at the Milk of Magnesia plant and later found a long-standing place at Lockett-Williams Mortuary, Inc., where he worked for over 20 years until his health began to decline. He also worked for several families providing what he enjoyed doing which was cleaning and organizing.

Though he did things his way, Richard had a heart rooted in loyalty-especially when it came to caring for his beloved mother, Helen. He was dedicated to her care until the end of her life, a reflection of the love he carried deeply.

Richard was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and served on the Food and Hospitality Committee, where he gave of his time, especially in the pantry. In his own way, he found moments to give back to others.  In the days before his passing, Richard shared with his cousin, Theodore, and close friends that he had made peace with God and was ready for what was to come.

He leaves to cherish his memory his goddaughter, Zyreanna Wilson; his god-grandson, Za'Kari Spain; cousins; the Lockett-Williams Mortuary family; an estranged brother; a longtime friend, Curtis Coleman; and many friends who will remember him just as he was-authentic, unapologetic, and unforgettable.
