Phyllis Antionette
Gibson
Jun 21, 1964 — Apr 12, 2026
Phyllis Antoinette Gibson was born on June 21, 1964, to Samuel Gibson and Lela M. Shaw in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Phyllis was a devoted and loving mother to her only child, Shonte Gibson, and a proud, deeply involved grandmother to her two grandsons, Aaden R. Kingsberry and Greyson K. Ingram. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She gave her love freely and abundantly, embodying the grace, kindness, and compassion that God so beautifully placed within her heart.
Phyllis received her formative education through the Gulfport School District and graduated from Gulfport High School. Following high school, she pursued her passion for learning and earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, laying the foundation for her lifelong commitment to teaching and shaping young minds.
Phyllis was a devoted educator for more than twenty years, faithfully serving students across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She cherished every moment in the classroom until her health began to decline, embracing each day as an opportunity to uplift and inspire. To her, teaching was far more than a profession—it was her ministry. With wisdom, patience, and unwavering dedication, she touched countless lives, planting seeds of knowledge, confidence, and encouragement that will continue to grow for generations to come.
A true servant of the Lord, Phyllis lived her life guided by unwavering faith. She was a giver at heart, often feeding members of her community and opening her home to those in need. Her kindness reflected the love of Christ, and her strength and compassion were evident in all that she did. Throughout her life, she faithfully served in many capacities, always willing to do God's work and uplift those around her.
Phyllis Antoinette Gibson departed this life on April 12, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, entering into eternal rest with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lela M. Shaw; her father, Samuel Gibson; and her brother, Spencer Gibson.
Phyllis will forever be cherished in the hearts of her beloved daughter, Shonte Gibson; her cherished grandsons, Aaden R. Kingsberry and Greyson K. Ingram; her loving sister, Sheila Kelly (Robert); her niece, Destinie Weems (Terry); her nephews, Ashton Gibson, Shayne Gibson, and Spencer Gibson Jr.; and a host of relatives, dear friends, and loved ones who were blessed by her faith, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Though she is no longer with us in body, we rejoice in knowing that she is at peace, resting in the arms of her Savior. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on in all who knew her.
"Well done, thy good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
Phyllis will be deeply missed, forever loved, and joyfully remembered until we meet again.
