Owen Augusta Palmer, a resident of Gulfport for over 30 years, passed away at the age of 82 on February 23, 2024. Born to Willie C. and Fannie Palmer in Yazoo City Mississippi. Owen was a devoted member of the Full Gospel Holiness Church, where he found great joy in serving the Lord.

Owen was a hardworking man who found fulfillment in farming and working as a longshoreman. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for his family. He cherished his role as a husband to Florine Palmer, and as a father to his four sons and daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Willie C. Palmer and Fannie Palmer; one sister, Bobbie Jean Palmer; three brothers, Willie C. Palmer, Joe Nathan Palmer, and Clarence Palmer.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Florine Palmer; four sons, Matthew (Janice) Horton, Owen Palmer, Jr., Willie Louis Palmer and Derrel (Cynthia) Palmer; one daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Williams; two sisters Susie Mae Brown and Linda (Calvin) Davis; one brother, John (Ann) Palmer, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Owen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, continued by family and a community that will always remember him.
