Oren Cyrus Parker, 85, of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi was born September 14, 1935, to Irma Dorsey Smith and James Parker in New Orleans, Louisiana. Oren departed this life Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Oren was a cultured and well traveled man who never became complacent and would always find ways to push his limits. As a Merchant Seaman, he traveled the world. In fact, Oren completed approximately four world tours. In addition to being a Merchant Seaman, he was a Master Chef, a Fisherman, and an Electrician. Oren's abilities seemed limitless. His various professions, knowledge, skills, and abilities were all testaments to the type of individual that Oren was. He was a Jack of all trades!

Oren's BIG, eccentric, and lively personality brought joy to the lives of so many people. He loved everyone and was indeed an example of what love looks like. His eccentric and unconventional ways of doing things drew people in and caused them to engage with him on a more personal level. This is the Oren that we loved and will miss dearly. From the family we say, rest well, Oren and we will pick up where you left off; until we meet again.

Oren is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Oren Kennedy; two sisters, Gloria Payne, and Yama Fennick.

He is survived by his daughter-in law, Gloria Kennedy; a nephew, Luther (Michelle) Fennick; six nieces, Barbara (Martin) Elzy, Janet Johnson, Connie Lampley, Myra (Lexie) Haynes, Candace (Aritaeus) Johnson, and Yolanda (Reggie) Graham; one grandson, Oren Lewis; two special friends, Cynthia Acker and Shirley Singleton; and a host of great nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
