Oliver Brent
Cannon
Jun 7, 1965 — Nov 2, 2019
Pass Christian
Oliver Brent Cannon was born on June 7, 1965 in Houston, Texas to the union of the late Harry and Theresa Cannon. He peacefully departed this earthly life on November 2, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Brent, as he was affectionately called, graduated from Pass Christian High School in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He continued his academic pursuits at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston, Mississippi. As a young adult, Brent was well known for his great athleticism as a basketball player both in high school and college. Brent was a kind and compassionate person with an infectious laugh, and he always had a warm smile for everyone he encountered. Brent unselfishly gave time and treasure to nonprofit community organizations and organizations affiliated with Christianity. Brent knew and loved the Lord and generously shared his faith and testimony with many.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Theresa Louise Cannon, his precious granddaughter, Aloni Rose Lawrence, and his eldest brother, Harry A. Cannon.
Brent is survived by three sons; Allen (Sue) Lawrence, Adonte' Cannon, Morgan Cannon, three brothers; Benjamin Cannon, James Cannon, John Cannon, three sisters; Debra Cannon, Imogene Cannon, Theresa Cannon- Pruitt, seven nieces and nephews; Toni Cannon-Walker, Bradford Cannon, Kristin Hamilton, Kristopher Cannon, Michael Woodson, Jasmine Cannon, Brandon Steele, Johnise Cannon; eight great nieces and nephews; Brittany Walker, Brianna Walker, Brennan Walker, Imani Cannon, Andrue Cannon, Anthony Cannon, Atticus Cannon and a host of extended family and friends.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Chri st. 1 Corinthians 15:51-57
I Have a Place in Heaven
I have a place in heaven, please don't sing sad songs for me. Forget your grief and fears, For I am in a perfect place, away from pain and tears. It's far away from hunger and hurt and want and pride, I have a place in heaven, with the Master at my side. My life on earth was very good, as earthly life can go, but Paradise is so much more than anyone can know. My heart is filled with happiness and sweet rejoicing, too. To walk with God is perfect peace, a joy forever new.
