In Loving Memory of Nolan Xavier Wells

There are some lives that are not measured by the number of years lived, but by the love they share, the hearts they touch, and the legacy they leave behind. Nolan Xavier Wells was one of those rare souls.

On July 6, 2026, at the age of 18, Nolan entered into eternal rest. Born on August 19, 2007, he was a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, whose life was defined by faith, family, compassion, humility, and purpose. Though his time on earth was far too brief, the impact of his life will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Nolan was raised in the Catholic faith and was baptized as a child at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moss Point, Mississippi. Throughout his life, he worshipped at both St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ocean Springs. His faith was not simply something he professed—it was evident in the way he lived. He possessed a servant's heart, a quiet humility, and a genuine compassion that made everyone around him feel seen, valued, and loved.

One of Nolan's favorite Scriptures was Colossians 4:2:

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."

Those words were more than a favorite Bible verse—they reflected the way he lived each day. Nolan approached life with gratitude, unwavering faith, and a joyful spirit that encouraged everyone blessed to know him.

A proud graduate of Ocean Springs High School's Class of 2025, Nolan embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and serve. He excelled as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball while also lending his talents to GTV, the school's media program. Whether competing on the field, working behind the camera, or encouraging a teammate, Nolan represented his school with integrity, humility, and excellence. His leadership, determination, and positive attitude earned the admiration and respect of classmates, teammates, coaches, teachers, and friends.

Following graduation, Nolan continued pursuing his dreams at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Mississippi, where he attended on a football scholarship. He approached college with the same determination that had always defined him, balancing the demands of athletics with his commitment to academic excellence. His scholastic achievements earned him recognition for his outstanding academic success, reflecting the discipline, character, and perseverance that became hallmarks of his life.

Yet Nolan's greatest accomplishments could never be measured by awards, accolades, or achievements.

He will be remembered for the way he loved.

He had an infectious smile that could brighten even the darkest room, a laugh that invited everyone to join in, and a personality that made strangers feel like lifelong friends. His corny jokes became treasured memories among those closest to him, and his joyful spirit had a way of lifting everyone around him.

Perhaps nothing revealed Nolan's heart more than his love for his family. He adored them deeply. He especially disliked seeing his mother cry and would do everything within his power to comfort her. His greatest gift was not found in his athletic ability or academic accomplishments, but in the kindness he freely gave, the encouragement he constantly offered, and the genuine love he showed without expecting anything in return.

To know Nolan was to witness goodness in its purest form.

He was respectful without being asked.

He was humble without seeking recognition.

He was compassionate without condition.

He was joyful without pretense.

He simply made the world a better place by being in it.

Nolan was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother, Gina C. Wells, whose memory he carried in his heart throughout his life.

He leaves to forever cherish his precious memory his devoted parents, Elmore Wonsley Sr. and Christine Wells-Wonsley; his maternal grandfather, Christopher L. Wells Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Elmore J. Hawkins and Dorothy M. Wonsley; his beloved sister, Carlisha Briscoe; his brothers, Jalen Briscoe, Jaden Briscoe, Ethan Wonsley, and Elmore Wonsley Jr.; his loving godmother, Geralyn Mass; his aunts, Gabrielle Wells, Shawanna Wonsley, and Ayanna Dread; his uncles, Christopher Wells Jr., Eric Bell, and Xavier Bryant; his maternal great-grandparents, Janet and Carlton Wells; his cherished fur siblings, Louie and Ling; and a host of devoted cousins, extended family members, teammates, classmates, coaches, mentors, and countless friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.

While our hearts grieve the unimaginable loss of a remarkable young man, we rejoice in the immeasurable gift of having known him. Nolan's life reminds us that greatness is not measured by the number of years we are given, but by the love we share, the faith we keep, and the lives we touch.

Today, Heaven has welcomed home a faithful servant.

Though his voice has been silenced, his example continues to speak.

Though his footsteps have ceased, his influence continues to guide.

Though we mourn his absence, we celebrate a life that was truly, beautifully lived.

As we remember Nolan, may we carry with us the words that guided his life:

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." — Colossians 4:2

May we honor his memory by living with the same faith, humility, gratitude, compassion, and love that so beautifully defined his life.

Forever Loved. Forever Honored. Forever Nolan.
