Marilyn Rose
Crain
Sep 5, 1952 — Mar 5, 2021
Gulfport
Whether you knew her as MalMal, Rosie, or Tweety, you knew Marilyn was a very special soul. Marilyn Rose Crain, 68, of Gulfport, MS passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, March 05, 2021, after a 7-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. MalMal displayed strength, unfathomable empathy, and a fierce love for God during this long, tough battle.
Marilyn was born on September 05, 1952 to Delos and Ruthie Crain in Bogalusa, LA. She attended 33rd High and later completed her studies at Gulfport High School. In 1981, Marilyn welcomed her only daughter, Nina, into this world.
Marilyn loved and supported her family and friends. Although a bit shy, once she opened up and made you her friend, she was a loyal friend for life. Marilyn loved shopping, eating out, cooking, and going to church praise services and singings. She was passionate about her soap operas, cleaning house, and anything Tyler Perry.
After the birth of her first grandchild in 2001, Marilyn would then become known to all as MalMal, and that would be her name, full of love and endearment, until she took her last breath.
MalMal was predeceased by her father and her mother, and her brother Delos Crain, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Ella Brown, her five brothers, John Crain, Johnny Ray (Dinah "DJ") Crain, Denman Crain, Thomas Crain and Anthony (Eunice) Crain, and her only daughter Nina (Chris) Ladner, and her four grandchildren children Nyah, Nylah, Natalia, and Nova James. Because of the village of the Brown/Crain family, she is survived by her nieces that are her bonus daughters, Cecilia Brown, Cassandra (Kevin) Payton, and Charmain (Bernard) Atmore and her very special friends Sheila Davis, Minnie Williams and May Frances Morgan.
Anyone who knew MalMal knew that she was a special soul. She had an immense passion for life and Christ and was always a positive light in a dark room. Her host of family and friends will miss her more than words can say.
The Home Going Celebration of Ms. Marilyn "Mal Mal" Crain will be streamed live via Zoom. See link below.
