Obituary

Lucille "Cille" Bender Crenshaw was born to the late Mr. David and Mrs. Mahalia Bender in Gulfport, MS on June 8, 1950. Lucille answered her call to be with the Lord on September 15, 2020. She grew up in the Soria City Community but later moved with her family to the Gaston Point Community where she connected with her neighbors and they became her second family. She united with Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church there in Gaston Point as well.

Lucille was a 1969 graduate of 33rd High School and worked as a housekeeper in the hotel industry along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was an exceptional creative seamstress and was known to create her own designs which many would pleasingly awe in excitement over. She did not birth children of her own but she helped in the upbringing of many children in her neighborhood. They all looked to her for guidance and showed her much respect as a mother-figure.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Crenshaw, her parents; a stepbrother, George Spears, seven Uncles; two Aunts, Lottie Mae Spears and Majorie Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory a brother, Glasco Bender, Seattle, WA; three Nephews, Wesley "Antonio" Bender and Glasco Bender, Jr. both of Charlotte, NC, Clifton Brown, Gulfport, MS; an aunt, Lela Mae Spears; Cousins, Mary Ann Govan ,Earnestine Preston, Greenville, MS, Prestee Carr,Tylertown, MS, Deborah Mack, Saginaw, MI, Demond Bradford, Phoenix, AZ, Kelvin Bradford, Ewa Beach, HI, Daniel Bender, Jr., Darrell Bender both of Lauder Hills, FL, Jacqueline B. Reynold, Queen Creek, AZ, Mary Evans, South Carolina, Martha Curry, Newton, MS, Anita Caldwell, Jonesboro, G; a dear friend, Christine Smith Tillis, Gulfport, MS, and a devoted caregiver, Dana Hollimon Avery also of Gulfport.
