Leo Ronald Seldon, affectionately known as "Poppy," was born on October 6, 1934, to Arita Dedeaux Marcus and Edward Seldon. He was raised in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he attended Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School.
In 1956, Leo proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving three years. Following his military service, he married his beloved wife, Yvonne Lucille Swanier, and began a long and dedicated career with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). Throughout his career, Leo had the opportunity to work and travel around the world, including assignments in Vietnam and Thailand. His work allowed him to explore the United States with his family, and he spent his final working years in Panama. After 35 years of faithfully supporting U.S. servicemen and their families, he retired in 1986.
After retirement, Leo returned to Gulfport, Mississippi, where he enjoyed a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. He cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spent many hours working on projects in his shed, and found peace in fishing-often donating his catch to St. Therese Catholic Church.
On April 24, 2026, at 9:45 a.m., after 91 blessed years, Leo Ronald Seldon was called home to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Leo Garfield Seldon, Ronald Anthony Seldon, Valeria Rachel Seldon Ray, and Candice Monique Seldon; one sister-in-law, Gloria Marie Davis; and one brother, Joseph "BB" Harold, and several nieces and nephews.
Leo's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Dominique Seldon, Jairrion Kapperman (Latisha), Devin Seldon, Leo Seldon Jr., Kyle Seldon, Alexis Seldon, Aaron Seldon, Tristan Seldon, and Austin Ray; his great-grandchildren: Zoë Johnson, Khloe Seldon, Jordan Kapperman, Khaza Reyes, and Kree Reyes; and his godchildren, Janice "Inky" Boudreaux and Aubrey Johnson.
