Obituary

Lawrence ("Larry") John Brown was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on August 3, 1949 to the late Lucien Joseph Brown, Sr. and surviving mother, Geraldine Alberty Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi. He departed this life on November 16, 2024. Brother Larry Brown was an active member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi where he served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years. He also created and headed the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church food and clothing give-away, as well as the church's food pantry. Larry provided janitorial services for his church for more than 25 years, until COVID isolation was recommended.

Larry had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was the previous owner of L&M Christian Bookstore in Biloxi, Mississippi. He often gave away his inventory to those who would listen to his testimony, and those who truly wanted to learn to follow Christ. He closed his business after his wife, Margaret, joined the United States Air Force in 1989, and was stationed in various locations across the United States. He was also the owner of Brown's Janitorial Service at the time of his passing.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lucien Joseph Brown, Sr., his brother, Lucien Joseph Brown, Jr., and son, Cameron Maurice Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 41 years, Margaret Jones Brown; sons, Lawrence Dante' Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Joshua Hines of North Carolina; daughters, Ladronera "Missy" Brown Young of Atlanta, Georgia, Erin D. Brown Morgan (Antonio) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Blake Brown, Kennedy Brown Mosley, Berlin Magee-Brown, Redwick Morgan, Archer-Mac Morgan, and Jordan Hines; one great-grandson, Brice Brown; two brothers, Albert L. Brown of Anna, Texas, and Derrick Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi; three sisters, Cynthia Patterson of Dallas, Texas, Alice Brown of D'Iberville, Mississippi, and Jacqueline Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi; a special nephew, Kenneth Campbell; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Larry loved God, his family, and his church. He was a true man of God whose service to Christ extended beyond the walls of the church.
