Karla D.
Melancon
Oct 21, 1964 — Feb 6, 2021
Pass Christian
Karla "Boo Boo" DeLinda Melancon was born on October 21, 1964, to Trellis Norman and the late Jimmie D. Norman in Petoskey, Michigan. Karla was a caring and loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend. and cousin. On February 6, 2021 Karla was called home to be with the Lord. Karla gave her life to Christ at a young age at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church. Karla loved the Lord and most recently found joy in attending services at Northwood Church, until her health began to decline.
Karla traveled the world with her parents being a "military brat" most of her early life until her dad retired, making Pass Christian, MS their home. Karla graduated from Pass Christian High School in 1982, where she was an active cheerleader. She continued her education at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Jefferson Davis Campus) until she began her employment with Oreck.
Karla was a special "ladybug" - one of a kind to be exact! She was steadfast at doing things her way and was truly a WARRIOR and fought a courageous battle with cancer. She continued to work throughout her illness, as well as enjoy life. Karla was an active member of Reggae Runnerz and Black Girls Run (BGR). Over the past nine years, Karla continued to participate in numerous races around the country, receiving dozens of medals.
Karla's tenacity gives us all hope, inspiration, and the will to continue to live life in any given situation .
Karla leaves to cherish her kind and loving memory mom Trellis Norman of Pass Christian, MS; children Reginald Norman and Jessica Melancon of Pass Christian, MS; grandchildren Cloey, Kendall, Landon, Emerson, Josiah, Heavenly and Bryson; sisters Karen Crawford and Peggy Johnson of Pass Christian, MS; nieces Denisha (Chris) Gwin of Tampa, FL, Bobbie Taylor Jordan and Trinity Johnson of Pass Christian, MS; great niece (Zoe) and great nephew (Zayn) of Tampa, FL.
Karla also leaves to cherish her memory a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, co-workers, friends and two special life-long, devoted friends Angela DeDeaux-Bullock of Nashville, TN and Cassandra Matthews of Ocean Springs, MS.
