Obituary

Johnny Williams Ir. was born to the late Phebie Roberts Payne and Johnnie Williams Sr. in Pass Christian, Mississippi on February 9th, 1948. He was affectionally called "Junior", "Dune", and "Unc" by his siblings, nieces, and nephews. Upon his high school graduation from Randolph High in 1965, Johnny attended Southern University and A&M College where he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Celestine. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1971 and married Patricia in May of 1972. The two relocated to Houston, Texas and began their family having three children, Patrice, Johnny and (Lilya) Jenee'.

For over 20 years, Johnny worked as a salesman at Sears Roebuck. Excelling in his profession, he earned the top salesman award consistently over his tenure. Johnny adored his family, was his father's only son and his pride and joy. As one of his best friends stated, "Johnny may have been 5'7 but he stood 10 feet tall!" A protector of all with a no-nonsense approach. He never met a stranger and enjoyed helping others. He took pleasure in being a listening ear, counselor, and was an intellect with a thirst for knowledge.

Johnny loved the Lord and read his bible daily. He remained active throughout the years and walked the neighborhood track with friends daily. An avid music lover with an extensive music collection, Johnny enjoyed entertaining friends and family with conversation and a good debate.

Johnny is proceeded in death by his wife, Patricia Celestine Williams, parents Phebie Payne and Johnnie Williams Sr., and his siblings John "Louis" Payne Jr., Barbara Payne Overby, Yvonne Payne, Patricia "Patsy" Payne Biggs, and Dorothy Payne; his godmother Laura "Nannan" Cappie Dedeaux.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Patrice W. Booker, Johnny Williams III., and Lilya Jenee' Keeton (Joshua) all of Houston, TX. His five grandchildren Deja Booker, Christopher Booker Jr, Jolie Keeton, Jackson Keeton, and Jasmine Booker, three sisters-in-law Germaine Payne of Carson, CA, Mary L. Harper (James) of Garland, TX, and Verna Mae Celestine of Breaux Bridge, LA; and nephew Darryl J. Payne, who was raised as a brother. He held special relationships with his nieces and nephews of which all were his favorite and will be remembered by his special cousins that he treasured.
