Mr. J. D. Jones, son of the late Walter M. Jones and Essie M. Jones was born November 21, 1949, in Newton County, Mississippi. JD was baptized at an early age, and later in life he joined the Church of Christ in Gulfport, Mississippi. He attended North Gulfport High School (Wildcats). After his time in school, JD moved to Saginaw, Michigan to join his brothers.
After relocating to Michigan, JD gained employment with General Motors, where he worked for many years. He joyed life to the fullest and he loved his family and friends. After years of being away, J.D. returned home to be closer to his family. J.D. remained of the Mississippi Gulf Coast until his earthly departure, October 6, 2021. We, the family of J.D consider ourselves beyond blessed to have shared life's journey with him. J.D's smile, conversations, friendship, and overall presence has meant the world to us. We will miss him dearly, but our hope is built on the assurance given to us by Christ our Savior, that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Essie M. Jones, four brothers, Joseph, Willie, David, and Eddie Jones; three sisters, Mattie L. Jones, Jannie Copeland, and Mary Jimerson.
