James Andrew Cox, age 76, a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi; passed away on April 2, 2023. He was born on February 20, 1947, in Ripley, Mississippi to the late Jack Cox & Juliette Cox Harvey.

James attended North Gulfport High School and was a proud alumni and supporter of the graduating Class of 1965. He went on to attend Coahoma Community College and Mississippi Valley State and subsequently graduated from Jackson State University.

James was employed at Ingalls Shipyard, where he retired in 2004 after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was devoted to the church. He served as Trustee for Main Street Missionary Baptist Church for over 20 years and continued his service at Washington Chapel CME Church until his death.

He was a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened. He was known by many names. Some called him James; others called him Andrew; and some called him Trim. But he was affectionately called Anjames by his family.

James was always there for everybody. He was the Best Son, Brother, Cousin, Uncle and Friend. BUT his proudest title was that of Daddy & Paw Paw.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Cox; mother, Juliette Harvey; stepfather, Will Harvey; and sister, Brenda Wallace.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his only daughter, Jamie (Rod) Peoples. His beloved grandchildren; Rylee, Albert James "AJ" & Jordan. His stepson, Otis "Jay" Hopkins, Jr. His siblings; Willie (Georgette) Cox, Johnnie Thompson, Harry Cox, Deborah (Keith) Ferguson, Janice (John) Robertson, Patricia Sims, Williette Harvey & Juliette Harvey; special cousins, Fulton & Paula Alexander; extended family, Magdalene Stubbs, Theresia Rogers & Carolyn Floyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
