Iris
Jones
Apr 9, 2021 — Sep 12, 2021
Bay St. Louis
Iris Jones, 84, was born April 9, 1937, to Joe Sibley and Lilsia Jackson, in Columbia, Mississippi. The city of Bay St. Louis is the place she called home. Ms. Jones made a peaceful transition into eternal rest, Sunday, September 12th, 2021.
A great deal of Iris's life was spent in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. She was a member of St. Rose De Lima Catholic Church and she confessed on baptism for the forgiveness of sins. To speak of a nurture, to speak of a protector, and to speak of someone who was selfless is to speak of Iris Jones. Being blessed with a blended family, she dedicated her life to be the wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
There is an old adage that tells us that there is nothing like a mother's love. If you were blessed as the children and grandchildren of Ms. Jones were, that statement couldn't be more truthful. Iris took great pride in being a faithful wife, loving mother, and even more, a caring grandmother. She possessed such a loving spirit. Iris enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Family was of the utmost importance and her love for them was not only seen, but deeply felt each time she was around. If she were asked, Iris would tell you that becoming a mother was her greatest blessing, she absolutely adored her son, Bruce. Yet, above of all of her joys and blessings, being a grandmother and great grandmother was her greatest joy.
Where she wasn't spending time or caring for her family, Iris enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizen's Center. Her favorite activities included BINGO and playing card. Iris lived a simple life and did all that she could to ensure that her family was stayed safe and was taken care of. To have had such a beautiful soul be apart of your life makes it difficult to know that her physical presence will no longer be felt. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are going to miss the laughter, and ability to keep them busy. However, Iris's family is encouraged by knowing that an example, of a good life, has been established and that many people have been blessed by her life and legacy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mr. Feltise Jones, Sr.; a brother, Charles Weary; three sisters, Flora Herbert, Alyne Payton, and Lucille Sibley.
Iris is survived by her sons, Jefferson Collins- Denver, Colorado, Bruce Jones (Jeannie)- Waveland, Mississippi; her stepchildren, Feltise Jones, Jr.- Pass Christian, Mississippi, Kurt Jones- Lancaster, California, and Constance Jones- Los Angeles, California; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a special friend, Marcella Laneaux; loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
