Gladys Ruby Jenkins, 97, was born on September 19, 1923, to Mr. Edwin Augustine Pettiford and Blanche Isabella McMahon in St. George, Australia. She spent a great deal of her life as a Mississippi Gulf Coast resident. Gladys departed this life, Friday, July 30, 2021.

Gladys was a lifelong caregiver to her late husband, Melvin J. Jenkins and her two children, Carl and Lorraine. She was a very serene lady who was always happy and she possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Gladys's kind, loving, gentle, and super polite demeanor made it very easy to be around her. She was the epitome of a nurturer. There did not seem to be anything that she was afraid to take on. Her adventurous and fearless spirit gave way for her family to create beautiful lasting memories.

In her later years, Gladys maintained a very structured life. Each day she looked forward to her walks on the beach. In the evening she would take a ride along the Gulf Coast and would cap off the day by watching the "Must Have" "Vanna White -Wheel of Fortune", coupled with her chocolate and ice cream. The loss of a loved one is an experience that most people never want to experience, but the family of Ms. Gladys R. Jenkins is so grateful to have spent and made amazing memories with such a special lady.

She is preceded in death by both parents; and her husband, Melvin J. Jenkins.

Gladys is survived by her loving children, Carl Edward Jenkins and Lorraine Marie Jenkins (Gary) Geigel; and a host of other family members, and friends, especially those in Australia.
