Georgia L.
Pryear
Oct 15, 1941 — Jul 12, 2026
Georgia was born in Monroeville, Alabama, on October 15, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Bonner‑Sanders and Lewis Watson; her beloved son, Steven Pryear Sr.; her siblings, Tommy Graham, Joseph Graham, Ada Marie Sanders‑Cunningham, and Alice Faye Martin; and her cherished grandson, Reginald Wiggins.
Georgia graduated from Union High School in Monroeville, Alabama and accepted Christ at an early age. Lovingly known as "G," she moved her family to Gulfport, Mississippi, in 1969, where she proudly purchased a home and built a life rooted in love, faith, and perseverance. She became a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church in Gulfport, serving faithfully for many years. In her early career, she worked at the Mississippi Port Authority before finding her long‑term calling in environmental services, where she remained dedicated until her retirement.
Before her health declined, Georgia was active in Bible study and found joy in welcoming others into her home—and visiting theirs. She delighted in Bingo, crossword puzzles, and the quiet comfort of peaceful afternoons. Sundays were her special time to cook generous meals for loved ones and share her warmth with neighbors. She loved hunting for bargains and never missed an opportunity to dress up and head out with friends to enjoy live blues music.
Georgia leaves to cherish her memory her children: Glenda Wiggins, Willie (Rolenia) Wiggins, Albert Wiggins, James (Rhonda) Pryear, and Marvin Pryear, all of Gulfport, MS; and Valerie Magee of Lawrenceville, GA. She is also survived by her brother, Charles (Della) Sanders of Monroeville, AL; and two sisters, Bessie Mae Watson of Monroeville, AL, and Carrie Mallory of Boston, MA. Her legacy continues through seventeen grandchildren, a host of great‑grandchildren and great‑great‑grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
