Obituary

If you pass down the 300 block of Davis Avenue in Pass Christian on Saturday August 10, 2024, you will see what our family and friends call "Da Yard" celebrating the life of Garland Ramal Daniels under "The Tree".

Our parents, Lorna Rose and Harold, raised all their children on Davis Avenue. Garland was the youngest of 10 children. It literally took a whole village to raise him, who we called "BOO!" in his early childhood.

Growing up, he was quite the handsome "bad boy" who grew into the man that loved his 18 wheelers. Garland, aka "Speedo", his radio handle, met many people driving state to state, doing what he loved. He never met a stranger. On Davis Avenue, the boys would be in the yard with our daddy, working on cars, doing whatever he told them to do. They were always close; fussing over beer, a cigarette, or whose turn it was to go to the store.

Garland had a few special girls that he invited to sit under The Tree in the yard. In 1998, he married Danielle Piernas, who would become the mother of his beautiful twin, our sweet, spirited niece, BriAnna Alexis Daniels. Garland and BriAnna were Blessed enough to have another "Danielle" enter into their lives. The late Danielle Carter was welcomed into the Daniels family in 2007. Danielle Carter Daniels loved "all things" Garland, especially being a bonus mom to BriAnna. We are sure she was the 1st to meet Garland as he took his last earthly breath. In the last few months of his life, we were introduced to his significant other, Melinda Bradford, who was with Garland as he transitioned. He was not alone. We are so grateful to her for that.

Garland worked at Pearl Aggregate Materials LLC in Pearl River with Derrick, Mike Smith, and Beaver. Once he moved to New Orleans East, with Von, he worked at Big Boy's for Shane Raimer. They called him "Yard Dawg."

Garland has joined his wife, Danielle Carter Daniels; his parents, Lorna Rose and Harold Daniels; his brothers Elton, Harvey, Bradford, and Richard; his grandparents, Junius and Olivia Daniels, and Nathan and Virgie Williams; his maternal grandparents, Florence and Stanley Dedeaux; his nephew, Eldon Daniels; and many other friends and relatives in Heaven.

He leaves in his loving memory, his beautiful daughter, BriAnna Daniels of Kenner, LA; his brothers and sisters, Sandra, Roseta, Vaughn (Pam), Derrick (Julie), and Franchelle; his best and lifelong friend, "Lil" Derrick Jacobs (Chinetta); a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, countless relatives, in-laws, and friends.
