Father Raymond Anthony Jones, son of the late Colemon Jones and Angeline Pierre Jones was born April 21, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the youngest of seven children and attended St. Katherine School. Father Jones departed this life, November 8, 2021.

Father Jones began his formal educational preparation for the priesthood in September of 1952 at St. Augustine Seminary in Bay St. Louis. Upon the completion of his priesthood preparation, at St. Augustine, Father Jones entered his novitiate training at Saint Michaels Mission, Conesus, New York in 1956. Conesus, New York is also where Father Jones took his first vows in 1958. January 6, 1967, under the authority of Archbishop Hannan, Father Jones was ordained into the priesthood at St. Augustine Seminary in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Upon his ordination in to the priesthood, Father Jones gave of himself and served within the Kingdom of Christ and his community faithfully. His time as Pastor of Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, Louisiana, proved to be one of great achievement. Father Jones was initiated into the Nu Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Father Jones's departure will be felt by many, but family and friends are comforted in knowing that he has now joined the faithfully departed.

Father Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman Jones and Angeline Pierre Jones, four brothers, Augustus, Matthew, Coleman, and Overton; and two sisters, Olivia and Gloria.

He leaves to cherish his memories, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
