Obituary

Happiness comes not from what goes on outside of you, but rather in how you perceive life from the inside. ~ Joanna Fuchs ~

Ericka Denise Brock was born in Gulfport, Mississippi October 13, 1970. She is the daughter of Mr. Bobby Hawthorne and the late Ms. Linda F. Brock. At an early age, Ericka was baptized and joined in Christian fellowship with the Forrest Heights Baptist Church- Gulfport, Mississippi- currently under the leadership of Rev. George Rouse and First Lady Angellus Rouse.
Ericka was educated within the Long Beach School District and after her educational tenure, she gained employment in the retail industry for a short period of time. Ericka was a beautiful and caring human being. Her compassion and care for those she loved was honest and pure. To know her was to love her. Monday January 17th, 2022, Ericka took her last breath and entered into sweet rest.

There is a lot that can be said about an individual who possesses the fortitude to live their life on their own terms despite conventional thought. Ericka's witty, confident, caring, and protective personality was unique in its own way. Her sense of fashion was out of this world! Any interaction with her was guaranteed to prove that she was a free spirit and that she was going to do what she wanted to do, regardless. To some this may seems a bit too unconventional, but what we, Ericka's family, learned through her life is that life's beauty came from within for Ericka. She was as free as a bird and the time that we were blessed to share life with her, taught us how to fly.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Linda F. Brock; her grandparents, J.M. and Ruby L. Brock; 2 uncles, Jimmie L. Simon and Ronald E. Brock.

Ericka leaves to cherish her loving memories; her father, Mr. Bobby Hawthorne- Biloxi, MS; two daughters, Nicole Brock- Long Beach, MS, Laila Walker, Gulfport, MS; four brothers, Lamond (Jeanett) Brock- Gulfport, MS, Bobby Hawthorne, Jr., Raymond Hawthorne, and Jabari Hawthorne; three sisters, Marsha Brock- Gulfport, MS, Kim Mullins, and April Young; 4 nieces; 8 nephews; an uncle; aunts; a special friend, Maverick "Sonny" McNair; cousins, other relatives and friends!

She will be greatly missed, and the memories of her life will be in our hearts forever!
