“Big E”

Eric Djuan Evans, affectionately known as “Big E,” was born on December 18, 1971, in Gulfport, Mississippi. On November 1, 2026, he departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born and raised in Gulfport, Eric held a special love for his neighborhood, affectionately known as “Tha North.” Eric loved his family, his community, and his beloved New Orleans Saints. Whether cheering on his favorite team or spending time with loved ones, Eric appreciated the people and places that made his life meaningful. To know Eric was to know that family extended far beyond blood.

Eric was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Harvey Lee Evans and Ruth Bolden-Evans; his aunt, Debrah Evans-Purnell; and his great-aunt, Leola Evans.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Retha L. Henderson; his brother, Cottrell Evans; five children, Jasmine Cousan (Albert), Chasity Cousan, Kierra Gaines, Eric Evans Jr., and Djuan Evans; six cherished grandchildren, Paris, Alysa, Ozborne, Cameron, Katiya, and Karmyn; his cousins and siblings through love, Stanley Williams, La'Keesha Hunter (Jothan), Shemeka Evans-Moye (Minson), Lynette Batiste, and Denise Robertson (Gabe); his beloved Great-Uncle Alfred Evans Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Though Big E is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
