Dorothy Jean
Lee
Nov 28, 1946 — Aug 1, 2019
Gulfport
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
II Timothy 4:7
On August 1, 2019, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Dorothy Jean (Bolton) Lee departed this life at the age of 72, with her family by her side.
All those who knew Dorothy, lovingly called her "Dot." Dot was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on November 28, 1946 to Helen (O'Neal) Bolton and Ernest Bolton Sr., who both preceded her in death. She attended Earl Travillion Elementary School in Hattiesburg and graduated from North Gulfport High School in 1966, where she was a member of the band and selected as homecoming queen. Later she married Joe Sam Lee. Dot retired after 30 years, from Keesler Air Force Base, where she worked as an Accounting and Finance Specialist.
At an early age Dot accepted Christ into her life and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under Reverend Chambers, where she remained a member until her death. Dot loved the Lord and the only thing she loved nearly as much as God, was her family. Dot loved fishing, reading and antique shopping. Dot was the matriarch, who frequently brought family together. Her idea of a great day was cooking and bringing her family together to share food, play card games, listen to music, laugh, talk and most importantly share stories. Dot truly enjoyed spending time with her family and leaves behind beautiful memories.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Joe Sam Lee of Gulfport, MS.; daughter, Sonji Brown of Chicago, IL.; sister Patricia Lett, brother Ernest Bolton Jr. and brother Robert Bolton all of Gulfport, MS.; nephews Antonio Johnson of Gulfport, MS. and Robert Bolton Jr. of New York, NY.; niece Adrienne Bolton of Atlanta, GA.; one god-son Dominique Johnson of Gulfport, MS. and a host of other relatives and friends.
