Debra Jo
Peters
Apr 5, 1958 — May 5, 2025
Debra Jo Peters, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on April 5, 1958, to the late Earnest and Inez Pigott. From an early age, Debra became a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, Louisiana.
Affectionately known as "Deb" by many, she received her education at Wesley Ray Elementary and Varnado High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. Debra then embarked on the next chapter of her life by uniting in marriage with Andre Peters Sr., and together they welcomed Preshettia, Andre Jr, and Andre'Nae, in addition to her bonus son, Dewight Peters. Her professional journey included positions at Orleans Furniture Factory and American Fabric, where she showcased her talent for home decor and design. Debra had a deep passion for caring for the elderly in her community and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
After returning from Clarksville, Tennessee, Debra moved to Mississippi to be closer to her son and devoted daughter-in-law, relishing every moment with her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Dolla. When her health began to decline, she chose to reside at Woodland Village Nursing Home, where she frequently expressed joy about the activities shared with her new family and friends. Deb was never shy about offering spiritual encouragement to her loved ones, often sending warm texts and reminding them that it was "God's Grace"-her favorite gospel song-that sustained her.
Renewed and restored from her earthly journey, Debra peacefully entered her final rest on May 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving children and family.
