David Michael
Kemp
Mar 26, 1957 — Mar 23, 2023
David "Cowboy" Kemp, age 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 23, 2023 at his home in Long Beach, MS after his courageous fight with lung cancer.
David is survived by his mother, Mary Kemp; his brothers, Terry, Dennis and Robert; his children, Christopher, Jenna and Danielle and 8 grandchildren.
David was born on March 26, 1957 at Lockborne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio to James and Mary Kemp. David had recently retired after a successful career working at Mississippi Power Company that spanned over 38 years.
David was a great son, brother, father, grandfather and friend anyone could have been blessed to have. His passing leaves a hole, not only in our family, but also in the many lives he has touched.
Besides spending time with his family and friends, David had a passion for so many things and liked a good adventure. He was a skilled pool "shark" player, he loved nothing more than casting a line or rowing in his kayak. David had the brightest and most energetic personality and could always bring out a laugh or a smile whenever he was around. He touched so many lives with his friendliness, wisdom, love and his amazing ability to tell a great story.
Family, friends and those whose lives David touched are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St. Thomas Church, 720 East Beach Blvd., Long Beach, MS 39560. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Services from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM and Fellowship from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
