Curtis Darrell
Haskin
Jul 3, 1958 — Jan 16, 2024
Curtis Darrell Haskin was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on July 3, 1958. Curtis is the 6th child born to Ellis L. Haskin, Sr., and Daisy Mae Allen Haskin. Curtis excepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, under the last Pastor, Reverend D.B. Barnes and later under the leadership of Pastor, Reverend Phillip McSwain, Sr.
Curtis enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia. After serving his country for years, Curtis received an Honorable Discharge. Curtis loved the Lord. His favorite Scripture was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." You would always find Curtis talking about Jesus and ALL that He had done for him. He loved people and people loved him. He was always willing to assist in a time of need. Curtis was kind hearted and loved to laugh and talk with people even if he had just met them for the first time. Curtis enjoyed working with his hands. Gardening, painting, and pressure washing were some of the things he enjoyed doing. Curtis loved playing the piano. His favorite song he enjoyed playing was "Lean On Me". The words written in the song are a true testament to his life. Curtis also enjoyed sports. The New Orleans Saints was his favorite football team, and he was one of their greatest fans.
Curtis passed away peacefully at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson, MS at the age of 65.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis L. Haskin, Sr. and Daisy Mae Allen Haskin and his wife, Helen Marie Stewart and his brother, Frederick Charles Haskin, Sr.
Curtis is survived by his three children Lana (DeMaurio) Preyear, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Jordan Haskin, Sr. and Willie Ducksworth, both of Gulfport, Mississippi, two step-children, Zachery Mayberry and Brianna Stewart; nine grandchildren, Amare Haskin, Jordan Haskin, Jr., Jamir Haskin, Gisele Haskin, Naseer Haskin, Jurnei Haskin, Eli Preyear, Elaya Preyear and Cameron Stewart; four brothers; Ellis, Jr. (Doris) Haskin, Gulfport, Mississippi, Sammie (Carol) Haskin, Fayetteville, Georgia, Nelson (Debbie) Haskin, Sr., Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Gary Haskin, Sr., of Jackson, Mississippi, three sisters, Rutha Haskin Evans and Barbara Haskin Pore, both of Biloxi, Mississippi and Denita Haskin Williams (Steve), of Smyrna, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
Curtis was loving and kindhearted to his family and his friends. His words were always softly spoken. His laugh was contagious and his sense of humor will never be forgotten. Curtis would always imitate his dad and Fred Sanford, by walking and talking like them. His imitations were priceless. Curtis will certainly be missed by EVERYONE! Rest in Peace, Curtis!
