Obituary

Clyde Collins, 55, was born on December 23, 1965, to the late I. H. Holmes and Loretta Collins in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Clyde departed this life, Friday, September 3, 2021.

Clyde was educated within the Gulfport School District. He attended Powerhouse of Deliverance Church, Bay St. Louis. In his early adulthood, Clyde gained employment, as a Longshoreman, with ILA Local 1303. He remained employed with ILA for several years before relocating to Iowa. After his stint in Iowa, Clyde returned home to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Upon his return, he gained employment with the Island View Casino and worked there for approximately six years but would eventually find himself back with the ILA Local 1303, the job he loved.

Clyde was a very quiet and reserved man. A scholar within his own right, Clyde was well read. When he wasn't reading, he could be found enjoying a movie. He was indeed a movie buff. Clyde's sisters laugh as they reminisce on how much their relationship was strengthened by reading and discussing scriptures in the Bible. Though reserved and quiet, Clyde loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. The lives of many people were enriched simply by knowing Clyde. His family considers themselves beyond blessed to have spent time with such an amazing man such as Clyde. May his life be a blessing to all of those he touched.

He is preceded in death by his father, I.H. Holmes; his mother, Loretta Collin; a brother, James Holmes; and three sisters, Patricia Parker, Jackie Moffett, and Dorothy Parker.

Clyde is survived by three brothers, William Collins, Jr., Iverson H. Holmes, Jr., Larry Holmes; two sisters, Pamela Bateaste, Paula Faye Horn; five aunts Claudette Casey, Lillian Casey, Janice McInnis, Yvon Harris, Joyce Ann Casey, a special aunt; a best friend, Cary Crain; and a host of other relatives and friends.
