Chiffon
Holmes
Sep 28, 1964 — Nov 10, 2019
Gulfport
Ms. Chiffon R. Holmes (her family endearingly called her "Tauna") was born September
28, 1964 to the late Mr. Welmer Holmes and Mrs. Emma L. Holmes in Gulfport, Mississippi
where she remained a resident for over 50 years. Chiffon graduated from Harrison Central
High School. After completion of high school, she continued her education at Mississippi Gulf
Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis Campus. Chiffon dedicated her life early in serving
God and she loved her church and church family dearly. Chiffon believed in the power of
prayer and had an unwavering faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ. As a member of Greater
Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she served in the Women's Intermediate Auxiliary, Sunday
School and choir. Chiffon was a beautiful young lady inside and out. Her drive, determination,
and outlook on life served as a true testament of the will and power of a strong woman.
Chiffon's genuineness gave those whom she met and inner peace, knowing that what you
received from her was honest and pure. There were definitely times when Chiffon's opinion(s)
may not have come across as she anticipated, but wrapped in a bow, they were always direct,
straight-to-the-point, and given in honesty. This personal attribute of Chiffon, over time,
became her most admirable characteristic.
Chiffon's family remembers her as an EXCEPTIONAL mother. She would always put
others before herself as she walked in love. Chiffon adored her nieces and nephews. When
others would tell Chiffon that they loved her, you could always count on her response to be, "I
love you more." Chiffon was very caring and motivating. She was always determined to
succeed despite the odds placed against her. As she believed in God, she also believed in
people, believed in hard work, and most of all, believed in the power of God's love. Chiffon
was truly loved. Many may consider Chiffon's transition a loss, but her family has learned
through Chiffon's life, that God's love ALWAYS win. So, it is with comforted hearts that her
family chooses not to say goodbye, but rather, (see you later).
