Charlette Marie Smith, 68, went to her heavenly home on May 2, 2026.

Charlette was a 1975 graduate of Gulfport High School. She went on to attend The University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a 1977 Alpha Angel, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1979. She worked at Central Jr. High as a teacher's assistant and later was a substitute teacher at Gulfport High.

Anywhere she went, she didn't meet a stranger and she was known for being able to talk to anyone.

Faith was the foundation of her life, guiding every step and bringing comfort to all who knew her. May she find the peace she sought on Earth in the presence of her Creator.

She was welcomed into heaven by her father, Charles W. Smith, Jr; her dad, Alfred Brown, Jr; and grandmother, Mary Veal.

She is survived by her mother, Toni Brown; aunt, Mary Sharkey; 3 sisters, Karen Smith, Anzette Thomas, and Tashara Smith-Shoemaker; daughter, India Antoine; grandson, Ralph; her dog son, Marley; and many more family, neighbors and friends.

He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew your suffering and your pain
So he closed your weary eyes.
He whispered to you, "Peace be Thine"
And gave you wings to fly.
