Carl Bernard
Rogers
Mar 7, 1962 — Aug 18, 2021
Gulfport
Carl Bernard Rogers, 59, was born March 7, 1962, to Mr. Paul B. Rogers and Mrs. Ora Lee Williams Davis Rogers, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Carl was a member of the Power House of Deliverance Church, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, under the leadership of Bishop Jeffrey J. Reed and First Lady Tina Reed, where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Rogers departed this life, Wednesday, August 18, 2021.
Being reared in Hattiesburg and the small town of Janice, Mississippi, provided Carl with the appreciation of humble beginnings. He attended New Augusta High School, located within the Perry County School District. After high school, Carl continued his education at Pearl River Community College where he pursued a degree in Criminal Justice. Carl was a man of many gifts and talents.
His love for children led him to the field of Education, where he was an ISS Teacher at Gulfport High School. In addition to teaching, Carl served as a football, basketball, track and power lifting coach for several years. After leaving the field of Education, Carl began working at Allen Toyota, as a Car Salesman. Eventually, Carl and his wife would go on to open several businesses. Their first business being MCR Cleaning Service. After the success of this business, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers would go on to open another business, Shelly's Snow Cones. A notable item on the menu was the pecan candy, one of Shelly's Sweets, which has been shipped all over the United States! This business venture was more than a source of income, it was a ministry.
To know Carl was to love him, indeed. He was a man of faith, family, and future. He was steadfast in his faith, he loved his family and did all that he could, within his community, to ensure that the youth had a brighter future. Carl enjoyed sports, football in particular. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In fact, Carl and his wife were members of the Steel City Mafia, a Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Carl was the embodiment of a family man. He honorably fulfilled his duties as a husband, father, grandfather, godfather, and friend. His passing has left a void in the lives of those who loved him dearly, but we are reassured that, "... to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael R. Rogers; and his sister, Clarise D. Davis.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Rogers; four children, Michah Paul Rogers- North Carolina, Miki Scharonna Rogers- Gulfport, Mississippi, Bishop Jamier Rogers, and Rodney "PK" Keyes; a brother, Gregory C. Davis (Odessa); four grandchildren, Anaia, Micah, Jr., Kodi, and King Carl; three godchildren, Tyree, Danny, and Aiden; nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
