Obituary

Mr. Brandon Raeshone Miller, 33, was born December 15, 1986, in Toledo, Ohio. He departed this earthly life Thursday, January 09, 2020, at Memorial Hospital-Gulfport, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Brandon grew up in DeLisle, Mississippi, and attended Pass Christian Schools, graduating from Pass Christian High in 2005. Brandon was an all-around athlete in basketball, football, and track and field. He was a member of the "DeLisle Ballers," and played in an Intermural Basketball League. He was a member of Saint Stephen's Catholic Church, DeLisle, Mississippi.

Brandon loved spending time with his beloved and their children. He was a fearless and curious traveler. On his first visit to London, he found his way around the city on his own and showed his children all the sights. He was looking forward to traveling to Canada in February, to snowboard. He was light and laughter and was always at the heart of any group of people he spent time with, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He was a gentle giant. He was kind; he met strangers down on their luck, strangers who needed help, men stranded two states away from home with no money, and veterans panhandling for food; he gave them money, rides, and food, and they left him as friends. He was excited to return to school last August. He was a hard worker. At the end of his first semester, he earned A's in all his classes. He listened patiently and offered wise advice to everyone who asked him. He was looking forward to teaching his son to play basketball and to learn how to play soccer along with his daughter. He was honest with those he loved, even if the truth was painful. He assumed the role of the man of the house early in his life, and it was a role he took seriously and with reverence. He had a strong, great big heart.

Brandon was preceded in death by his father Melvin Alexander and grandfather Eddie Dedeaux.

Brandon leaves to cherish his life and memory, two children Noemie Miller and Brando Miller; and his beloved Jesmyn Ward (Mimi, of DeLisle, Mississippi). He leaves his mother Teresa Miller (DeLisle) and his brother Shayne Miller – Westfield (Baltimore, Maryland). He leaves his maternal grandmother Irene Miller, his grandmother Annie Pearl Herod, his grandmother Lettie Dedeaux, and his godparents Vincent Dedeaux and Paula Dedeaux. His brothers and sisters from Toledo, Ohio, will miss him mightily Andre Alexander, David Alexander, Kristina Alexander, Angelique Alexander, and Tasha Alexander. He also leaves behind a large extended family that includes aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, many of whom grew up with him as siblings.
