Mrs. Bobbie Stiggers McKinney was born in Rankin County, MS. She moved to Galveston, TX at an early age with her family. After completing elementary school in Texas, the family moved to Gulfport, MS. During her teenage years, Mrs. McKinney joined the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Famous McElhaney.

In 1996 she moved her membership to St. Mark United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Zachary Beasley. As a faithful member at St. Mark, she helped reorganize the usher board where she served until her health declined. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women's Ministry.

Mrs. McKinney was employed with the Harrison County Schools and Gulfport City Schools for 25 years. Her passion was teaching special needs children. She retired in December 2003. Mrs. McKinney enjoyed arts and crafts and making flower arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. William McKinney, and Mrs. Henrietta McKinney; one brother, William (Sip) McKinney, Jr; one aunt, Mrs. Topsie Smith of Gulfport, MS and her former husband, George Stiggers.

Survivors include one son, Zachary Stiggers of Gulfport, MS; one daughter, Dr. Shannon Stiggers (Robert) Johnson of Rowlett, TX; two sisters, Mrs. Thida Hall of Gulfport, MS and Mrs. Lannie Green of Aurora, CO; two granddaughters, Zipporah Andrea Johnson and Dara Vernay Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
