Betty Sumrall (75) was born February 5, 1948 in Gulfport, MS to the late Bertha Lue Fortenberry Burks and Warren Leon Burks Sr. She departed
this life May 31, 2023. Betty was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Gulfport, MS. She attended 33rd Ave. School and graduated
from North Gulfport High School. Betty furthered her education with an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Phillips College.
Mrs. Sumrall's work career ended in retirement from Sumrall's Construction Company, Inc. Betty was devoted to her husband Artice Sumrall. They shared 52 loving and blissful years of marriage. To this union they welcomed four children. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her lovely husband, children and grandchildren. Betty was a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan. She had many hobbies in her spare time which included sewing, shopping, and home interior decorating amongst many others. Betty was known as "Mrs. Diva" for always being classy and elegant whenever she walked into a room on any occasion. She was always complimented for her kindness and
sweet personality.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents: Warren Leon Burks Sr. & Bertha Lue Fortenberry Burks, one granddaughter Raneika Sharae Sumrall  & one great grandson Rhilo Sumrall Robinson. Betty is also proceeded in death by her siblings: Larry Burks Sr., Barbara Burks Lewis, & Linda Burks. Her Aunt Nursie Fortenberry whom she loved dearly.

She leaves behind to cherish her devoted husband Artice Sumrall (Saucier, MS), three daughters: Carmia Burks (Biloxi, MS), Raquel Sumrall (Saucier, MS), Q'Juania (Carl) Hanshaw Jr. (Gulfport, MS), one son, Artice DaShaun (Tiffany) Sumrall (Gulfport, MS). Grandchildren: RaJaun Sumrall, Isaiah Burks, Ashia Sumrall, lndyah Hanshaw, Mya Coleman, Carl (Tre) Hanshaw Ill, Taylor Roberts, Korey Hanshaw, Alannah Sumrall, & Bella Sumrall. One great grandson, Brycen Sumrall. Two brothers Aaron Burks & Warren Burks, Jr., two sisters Janice Murrary, & Deidra Burks, and a host of nieces and nephews. Betty also leaves behind longtime
friends, Mary Rogers, Jessie Lee Hill, & Patricia Spann.
