Gulfport

Obituary

Ms. Betty Jean Fields, 61, of Gulfport, Mississippi departed this life, Saturday, January 25, 2019.  Betty was a lifelong Mississippi Gulf Coast resident. She attended Gulfport East High School.  She was a member of Faith Works Ministries, Long Beach.

Betty was the friend that everyone needs. Her vibrant, jovial, and BIG personality gave way to nothing short of a good time, when she was around. Betty's family is comforted and are able to smile as they reminisces on her peculiar, yet honest demeanor. There was never a time when friends or family members had to question where Betty stood on any given situation. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and they knew it to be so. Betty was always willing to offer her advice and when she did, you walked away assured on her position.

Paired with her straightforwardness, Betty possessed a caring, compassionate, and loving disposition. Many would say that she found her niche in life, as she was an amazing caregiver. Her soft hands, gentle touch and caring nature gave all who were placed in her care comfort and solace. There doesn't seem to be much more that one can ask of a friend and/or family member. Honest, pure, caring and more than anything, loving are the traits that brought so much joy to those who knew Betty. The family's light shines a little dimmer from the passing of Betty, but their faith and hearts are made a little stronger as they rejoice in the destination of her final rest.

Betty is preceded in death by both parents, Mr. Robert Fields and Mrs. Leotha Domio Pannell and two brothers, Michael Fields and Ricky Fields.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; three children, Ingrid Fields, Miesha (Eddie) Willis, Justice Kirkland, all of Gulfport, Mississippi; one brother, Henry Lyons, Gulfport, Mississippi; eight sisters, Deborah (Wilbur) Jordan- Saucier, Mississippi, Pauline Thomas- Gulfport, Mississippi, Renee Bolton- Gulfport, Mississippi, Rhonda Fields- Gulfport, Mississippi, Scharlan Pannell-Vignaud- Atlanta, Georgia, Terri Spann- Gulfport, Mississippi, Tasha Fields- Gulfport, Mississippi, Crystal Fields- Gulfport, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Zyon Nehemiah, Denyiah, Eddie, Jr., Dylan and a host of other relatives and friends.
