Artherrall Dominique
Nakia Taylor
Jun 1, 1974 — Jun 24, 2025
Artherrall Dominique Nakia Taylor, affectionately known as "Niki," passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the age of 51. Born on June 1, 1974, in Jackson, Mississippi to James and Myrtle Taylor, Niki lived a life marked by service, connection, and unwavering devotion to family.
A proud graduate of Gulfport High School, Nikki went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He later found his calling as a master barber a career that allowed him to express both his artistry and his heart for people. Over the years, he lived in many cities and countries, but for the past five years, he made his home in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Niki was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving mother, Myrtle Taylor; his children Imani, Aisha, Nia, Dakarai, Aaliyah, Brandon, Arieal, and Daniel; and his grandchildren Aydan and Ava. He also leaves behind his brothers Torry, James(Tabia), Jabez, and Antoine; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Taylor; his maternal grandparents James Gent, and Mary Montclair; and his paternal grandparents Johnnie Franklin and Catherine Dykes; his maternal aunts Onie Lee Powell and Mary James Cole.
As the oldest sibling, Nikki was fiercely protective. Though he could be strong-willed and intense at times, it came from a deep desire to shield and support those he loved. He brought laughter wherever he went and always made sure the people around him were cared for.
He had a passion for music, sports, and fellowship. As a Past Master Freemason and dedicated barber, he built lasting bonds with those who sat in his chair and stood beside him. Above all, he loved his family especially his mother and his children, and did his best to be a guiding force in their lives.
Though his journey was not without its struggles, what we will remember most is his heart his bold spirit, his loyalty, and the way he loved.
