Obituary

Anthony DeHaven Collins, Sr. peacefully entered eternal rest on July 3, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on March 17, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, Anthony was the youngest beloved son of Edra and Martin "Brock" Collins. Known to those who loved him as a loyal "gentle giant," Anthony possessed a rare warmth, strength, and unwavering kindness that made him a steadfast friend to many.

In 1968, Anthony answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Over the course of a distinguished 25-year career, he dedicated his life to being a military jet maintenance technician and data analyst. As a proud veteran, his meritorious service included deployments and honors such as the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device, and the RVN Campaign Medal.

While serving in the Air Force, Anthony wed Lillian Ruth Harvey. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful children: LaJoyce, Anthony Jr., and Tanessa. Anthony's dedication to his country was only surpassed by his love for his family, who will forever carry his legacy of honor, protection, and devotion.

Following his military retirement, Anthony relocated his family to Gulfport, Mississippi, in 1994. There, he joined Shiloh Missionary Church, where he was baptized and found a vibrant spiritual community. True to his nature to serve, he dedicated his time and leadership to the congregation, serving faithfully as the church treasurer and later as a Deacon. Anthony's deep walk of faith also led him to further his religious education, and he proudly graduated from the Mississippi Baptist Seminary & Bible College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edra Collins and Martin "Brock" Collins; his beloved son, Anthony "Tony" Collins Jr.; and his brother, Charles E. Collins.

His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife Lillian R. Collins, his daughters, LaJoyce Collins, Tanessa Roberts and Husband Roderick L. Roberts, Sr; his cherished granddaughter, Dezmone Roberts; his cherished grandson, Roderick "RJ" Roberts Jr.; his loving nieces, Tanya Collins and Tracy Collins; his extended relatives; church family, and a host of fellow veterans, dear friends, and neighbors whose lives he has touched so deeply.
