Obituary

Annie Lee Culberson was born on April 30, 1925 to Betty Kate Davis and Thomas Davis, Sr. in Sandhill, MS.  She attended school in Rankin County School District.

Annie Lee was a wonderful mother to her daughter, grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a hard worker with an unmatched level of strength and endurance.  She spent most of her life in the Gaston Point Community where she did domestic work with multiple families for over 50 years.  Annie Lee was well known, loved, and respected by the residents of Gaston Point and honored as a true matriarch and friend.  Her caring and compassionate character rang true through her selfless acts of love and kindness to all who crossed her path.  Although she only had one child, she dedicated her life to help raise her grandchildren.  As a result of her unconditional love, guidance, and encouragement, she was honored and cherished as a mother to many during significant times of their lives. Though she will be sorely missed by all the souls she touched, her spirit will live on through our lives.  Her family will continue to press on and honor the legacy she left behind.

She is preceded in death by both her parents: Betty Kate Davis and Thomas Davis, Sr.; sisters: Bobby Mildred Nelson, Sally Walker; brothers: Frank Donald, Freddie Davis, James Davis, John Henry Davis, Odell Davis, and Thomas Davis, Jr.; and granddaughter Donna Tart.

She is survived by her brother, Malcolm Davis of Gulfport; sisters, Betty Sue Evans of Canton and Ethel Donald of Memphis; a daughter, Barbara Sheppard of Gulfport; three grandchildren, Demetrius McBride, Samuel Harper, and Marie Sheppard all of Gulfport; seven great grandchildren: Zanyell Miller and Michael Guy of Los Angeles, De'Sean Sheppard, Acayshia Washington, Me'Kaylia Stallworth, Teviyeh "Tai" Smith all of Gulfport, Elronay Martin of Louisiana; a host of great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
